With Him
While you take a few moments to read this blog and meditate on its meaning and revelation, I would like to remind you during this Christmas season that your Father God’s greatest interest has always been and will always be people.
In the hustle and bustle of the holidays, we rush home to our favorite Hallmark movies, bake our favorite cookies, drink hot chocolate, watch our favorite football teams, and attend our favorite parties and events. While we do all of this, God never takes His eyes or heart off of what He loves most, and that is PEOPLE!
He absolutely wants us to enjoy this life that He has given us, but it’s so easy to get caught up in pursuing an enjoyable life that we forget to pursue His heart. When we pursue our Father’s heart, we begin to flow from it. Our entire lives are spent doing things WITH Him, and not just FOR Him.
To God, it’s not about the things that you do in His name. It’s always about who you are doing them for. It is very easy to get into the habit of doing things that we see others do and calling it a “God thing.”
If we do everything FROM our Father God and not FOR Him, then everything that we do will flow from His heart and reach His people; His greatest interest. He’s never interested in man’s religion or in building empires. He is only interested in His kingdom advancing and His family growing. When we do life with Him, our own natural family prospers. grows, and flourishes.
So…who has the Father sent you to love during this holiday season? To bless? To encourage? To grow? To pursue? I believe that’s the change in the atmosphere that we feel when Christmas approaches. It’s a togetherness. It’s unity, and it makes anything possible because it’s the family way. It’s the Father’s way.
As we come to the end of another year, it’s healthy to check your heart and, as a believer, ask yourself: “What is God telling me to get ready for in this new year?” “What have I been doing with Him this year?” “Why am I doing the things that I’m doing?” Is it just simply the next big and trendy thing being done? Is it what you’ve always done, what’s comfortable, or is it what makes you feel good? Is it what gets social media likes and makes you feel valuable and relevant? Often times, being relevant doesn’t mean the same thing to Christians as it means to our Heavenly Father.
My challenge to you this holiday season and heading into this new year is to purpose in your heart to do life WITH the Father; loving like Jesus and being lead by Holy Spirit. Let all that you do flow from Him, and you will see lives change all around you. There is no better life than one lived with Him.
Merry Christmas!
