Follow Peace

I don’t know who needs to be reminded of this, but your answer to whatever is happening in your life right now is to just simply FOLLOW PEACE. In every situation, follow peace. In every storm, follow peace. In every circumstance, follow peace.

Is doing the will of God or being obedient always easy? Absolutely not! Do you have to make sacrifices and lay down your life? Absolutely! Is the reward always greater than the sacrifice? Certainly! Even when things get hard, if you’re in God’s perfect will, there is peace in the place of persecution that will become a place of promotion if you don’t quit and choose to simply continue to follow His peace.

In Psalm 23, David says that The Lord will lead us to and beside still and restful waters. Peace was always the Father’s intention for His children.

When Jesus was praying in the garden about His soon-coming crucifixion, He made it clear that even though His soul was sorrowful, He would rather do the will of His Father than have momentary relief.

READ. THAT. AGAIN.

After He was done praying, commotion breaks out when guards come to take Him. Peter cuts off the ear of the guard and Jesus heals it and makes it whole (as if it never happened). Perfect wholeness must come from a place of perfect peace.

You cannot give what you do not have. Jesus had it to give because He chose what looked impossible and hard, but still knew that it would end in victory for all. He followed peace. He did not just follow a good feeling in the pit of His stomach. He followed and chose SUPERNATURAL peace.

He chose a peace that confidently declares: “though none go with me still I will follow You.”

Jesus and His will for your life is the only true peace there is. Everything else is simply momentary relief. Simply follow peace. He is your answer.

Psalm 23 (APMC)

1 The Lord is my Shepherd [to feed, guide, and shield me], I shall not lack.

2 He makes me lie down in [fresh, tender] green pastures; He leads me beside the still and restful waters.

3 He refreshes and restores my life (my self); He leads me in the paths of righteousness [uprightness and right standing with Him—not for my earning it, but] for His name’s sake.

4 Yes, though I walk through the [deep, sunless] valley of the shadow of death, I will fear or dread no evil, for You are with me; Your rod [to protect] and Your staff [to guide], they comfort me.

5 You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with [a]oil; my [brimming] cup runs over.

6 Surely or only goodness, mercy, and unfailing love shall follow me all the days of my life, and through the length of my days the house of the Lord [and His presence] shall be my dwelling place.

CONFESSION:

“Today and everyday of my life, I choose to follow God’s perfect peace. The Lord is my shepherd. He takes care of me and leads me beside still and restful waters. (Psalm 23:2) I refuse to settle for momentary relief! His perfect peace that surpasses all understanding guards my heart and mind through Jesus Christ for all of the days of my life! (Philippians 4:7)”
