Judge Like Jesus
Through life and through situations, we are often tempted to judge others by sin or by their works. However, Jesus said in John 5:30 that there are things that give Him the right and/or the place to judge others, and we know that He is our example in all things. Let’s examine what He said.
“I can of Myself do nothing. As I hear, I judge; and My judgment is righteous, because I do not seek My own will but the will of the Father who sent Me.” - John 5:30
1) Jesus said that He could do NOTHING by Himself, in His own human strength, with His own human sense , or apart from the Father. He couldn’t even see or think correctly without the Father’s heart, perspective, and wisdom.
2) He said that He never judges or speaks anything of anyone unless He first hears it from Father God.
3) He said that His judgment is righteous BECAUSE He didn’t see His own will, but instead, the will of the Father who sent Him. Jesus had no agenda concerning anyone other than loving them and leading them into redemption and restoration. That’s it. No motive. No frustration.
This is why we have to be so extremely careful with judgmental and critical attitudes that are taught and passed off as holiness. According to this Word, you shouldn’t even speak a single word about someone unless you KNOW that it’s what the Father has said/is saying about them. Anything outside of this is PERSONAL judgment and it is UNRIGHTEOUS.
When you’re around others that you don’t agree with in any way, run your heart, thoughts, and motives through these 3 things that qualified Jesus to be our judge.
We should always remember that everyone is qualified to love, but not everyone is qualified to judge.
